A quiet version translator that saves you from forever juggling installations. Our server runs a specific Minecraft version, but your client may well auto-update to a newer one — and normally that would lock you out. ViaVersion sits invisibly between your client and the server and translates packets from the newer version down to the one the server understands on the fly (and the replies back again), so you simply connect and play. No need to keep an older version handy in your launcher or set up a special profile — you turn up exactly as you are. It's purely a server-side thing; you install nothing and configure nothing, it just works. Here we run only ViaVersion (the 'newer client onto our server' direction), we block no versions at all, and there's just a gentle packets-per-second limiter as standard flood protection. In short, background infrastructure you as a player never even notice — it just works, no fuss.

How to use

1. 1As a player you don't operate ViaVersion directly — it runs entirely on the server, and you install nothing in your client.
2. 2Just connect to minecraft.irminsul.uk normally, even on a newer client version than the server — ViaVersion handles the translation for you.
3. 3If it still won't let you in, your version is probably too new to be supported yet — wait for a plugin update, or pick a supported version in your launcher.
