a peek at what it looks like inside
It works like a folder that lives on the server and mirrors to your devices. On your computer you get a Nextcloud folder — whatever you drop in is instantly on your phone and on the web too. You share a file or whole folder with a link (optionally with a password and expiry), and older versions can be restored if you overwrite something.
Step by step
- Install the Nextcloud app (App Store or Google Play).
- Enter the server address (see Server above) and confirm.
- Sign in via «Login with Authentik» and grant access.
- Optionally enable Auto upload for phone photos and files.
- Download Nextcloud Desktop (Windows, macOS or Linux).
- Enter the server address and sign in via Authentik in the browser.
- Choose which folders sync to your computer.
- Open files.irminsul.uk → «Login with Authentik».
- Drag files into the window to upload, share with the Share button.
Tips & troubleshooting
- You can password-protect a share link and give it an expiry date.
- Sync large folders selectively so they don't fill your whole disk.
- The app and web also do Calendar and Contacts if you ever want them.
